The Oscar's Best Picture Award goes to........

'Slumdog Millionair' - Our pick for the Oscar's best picture. It is about a teenage boy Jamal Malek who grew up in the slums, became a contestant of the reality TV show 'Who wants to be a millionaire' watched by millions in his country.

Jamal was one question away from being a millionaire but when the show went for a commercial break, he was arrested by the police for cheating. The police were curious as to how a street kid who grew up in a slum knew the answers to all the questions.

He was desperate to tell the truth to the police. As he was interrogated, events of his life unfolded as he described his life with his brother in the slums, adventures together on the road, vicious encounters with local gangs which indirectly gave clues to his answers.

We were touched by one episode of the movie which potrayed the slums children being picked by people who lured them with tasty bottle of drinks and brought them to a place supposedly to protect these children.

These vicious 'wolf in sheep's clothing' people trained them to sing and then made those who could sing melodiously blind by pouring acid into their eyes and these kids became pathetic looking blind beggars on the streets. We enjoyed the movie as it was fast paced and full of adventures and at the same time learnt the reality and the hardship of life of children who lives in slums.
The other contenders for the best picture award are according to mum very much adult movies such as 'the Readers', 'Changeling' and 'The curious Case of Benjamin Button' . We will watch it if given a chance. :D
