My school Mother Tongue department organised a 3 days 2 night educational tour to Kuantan . It was my first trip without my family. We departed from Singapore by coach on 26 June at about 6.30am and reached there about 2pm. We stayed at the Swiss Garden hotel , a clean 4 star hotel in Kuantan which served a myriad of delicious food. I shared a reasonably spacious room with 2 other school mates. We visited Lake Chini by boat and witnessed the aborigine (orang asli) way of life and hunting style using the blow pipe.
The next morning, we went to the orphanage home to do some CIP. We also made some craftwork for these children. We went to the Panching Caves - caves carved by nature out of limestone. The journey up the caves was challenging. We were marvelled by the Sungai Pandan waterfalls. The water was clear and refreshing. We visited the Berserah beach , a fishing village well known for its salted fish.
On the third day, we visited the Turtle Sanctuary , a protected area for sea turtles. While at the batik factory, we learnt about the hand painted batik by the village folks. I tried batik painting from them and brought back my masterpiece ! I also bought souvenirs for each of my family members. We reached Singapore at about 10 at night , feeling exhausted but satisfied with the enriching and exciting trip !

The wrath of nature !!!

Natural disasters occurred one after another.

The destructions caused by the earthquake in China. Buildings were almost completely flattened.

One of the houses near the banks of Irrawady Delta, Myanmar, that was hardest hit by the cyclone Nargis

The powerful Cyclone Nargis that slammed into Myanmar's Irrawady Delta triggered a massive waves that gave the people no where to run killing thousands. The latest disaster was the earthquake in China with Sichuan province the most hit. It happened in the afternoon. Our hearts went out to the students who were studying in school when the school collapsed.

Besides worrying about our grades in school, we must always remember that there are children out there who were orphaned overnight or died in a most heartwrenching way.

Happy Mummy's Day

Lovely rose for mummy!

Our masterpieces dedicated to our dearest mummy!!
She was delighted. We started doing our artpieces last week. Yesterday, we told dad to buy a cake from Prima Deli to surprise mum. Bro2 could not contain his excitement and 'spill the beans'. Mum discovered the plan when bro2 excitedly told mum about the 'the birthday cake' in the fridge! She cut the cake and ate one slice with dad. The rest gobbled by the 4 of us. The cake was yummy!!! This morning, we gave our masterpieces to mum and planted a big kiss on her cheeks much to her delight. HAPPY MUMMY's DAY TO OUR LOVELY, YUMMY MUMMY! WE LOVE YOU ALWAYS and to ALL THE WONDERFUL MUMMIES IN THIS WORLD !
