Singapore Airshow 2008

Getting autograph from the fighter pilots who had just performed the aerial show!! whoopie!

Mum and me with a lady fighter pilot !!!

One of the most powerful and fastest jet in the world!

Nat says: My family went to the Singapore Airshow . Bro1 and myself came well prepared with our binoculars and camera so as not to miss any of the exciting shows. But we first had to endure more than 1 hour queue at the Pasir Ris MRT to board the shuttle bus and then had to go through a tight security clearance just before the entrance to the airshow. I also had first hand experience of some ugly Singaporeans who tried to jump queue but majority were very obedient who followed what seemed to be a never ending queue. .. but the awesome sight of the flying airplanes made us forget the madrush that we had to go through. Bro 1 and myself took photos of the largest passenger plane A380 flying very low and cirling majestically round the air. There were aerial displays of the various fighter planes. We took photos of the fastest fighter jet with the fighter pilots and managed to get their autographs. We were also busy collecting souvenirs such as posters, carrier bags and stickers. I like the gold aeroplane-shape collar pin best. It was a long, tiring and feet-aching but definitely exciting day for us!

Natasha's Prefect Investiture

I was selected to be a prefect this year. During the interview session , I was asked some tough questions by the Discipline Committee but i guess I did well enough to be selected. I told mum and dad on the interview and my interest to be a prefect. The interview was tough but convincing my mum and dad to allow me to be one was tougher especially my dad who was never a prefect in his school days but said that he did well in his studies. Hmmm how was that related.... ? After much persuasion and promises that I will not neglect my studies, they relented albeit unwillingly. Upon being appointed, I was given a little badge showing I am a 'Trainee Prefect'. The Prefect Investiture was held at the school hall and it was a solemn ceremony to appoint all the prefects officially, witnessed by all the students and teachers. I had 'butterfly in my stomach' as I went up the stage with the rest of the prefects. I could see bro1 who was sitting near the stage waving and smiling proudly but I could not wave back as we were supposed to stand smartly. We read the prefect's pledge and the principal gave a short speech. Upon the official appointment, each prefect was to adorn a tie and a namebadge. As prefects, we are to be role models in our studies and behaviour. That is tough but I will try to do my best !!

Chinese New Year quick Getaway

The Malek's family was almost stranded in the island of Singapore during the Chinese New Year 's break as we could not get ourselves booked into any of the resorts in Malaysia. Finally, after almost giving up hope and thinking that we might as well pitch a tent, stare at the blue sky of Sentosa while reading the 8 books borrowed from the school library, dad managed to book the Shah's Village resort, a surprisingly affordable hotel amid the exorbitant rate charged by most hotels during the peak season. Minutes after dad confirmed booking, the HOP (holiday operating procedure) takes effect almost immediately. We pack our worldly belongings into 2 travel bags and put all the potted plants at the shadiest part of the house hoping that they will not wilt away when we return. Luckily, we don't have any pets' welfare to think about.

The siblings at the pool and the lobby. The lobby has on display the Melaccan 'Baba Nyonya' poster bed with its intricate Chinese carving and a gong, cymbal and keris used by the Malays in the olden days Melacca Sultanate.
We also went to the Eagle Ranch Sports Paradise but no photos taken as mum was too occupied taking care of Sis 2 who was not feeling well. But dad said we will try to book again the Eagle Ranch room at our next trip as it will be interesting to stay in the room that looks like replicas of the cowboy band wagon... hee hah!!
